Man beat police officer who tried to stop him in Lapta police station

An angry young man who often visit the police station because of court paper, assaulted a police officers who tried to talk and calm him down in the courtyard of the Lapta Police Station.

In an incident on Saturday, November, 24, the man identified as Ömer Sürek, visited the police station in Lapta where he got into an argument with a police officer.

He then assaulted a police officer who tried too calm him down and fled the scene after the incident.

His criminal file was released and a search was launched against him. He surrendered to the police days later.

Sürek, had been convicted many times in the past for similar offenses.

He was taken to a court in Girne on Tuesday.
