First service to be held at church in Famagusta since 1974
A liturgy service will be held on Sunday at the church of Profitis
Elias at the village of Mutluyaka, near Famagusta, North Cyprus for the first
time since 1974.
The liturgy will be carried out after authorities in north Cyprus approved the request submitted by the Bishopric of Constantia-Famagusta through the UN.
The service will take place between 8am and 10am and will be carried out by Protosyngelos of the Bishopric, Avgoustinos Kkaras, and priests coming from the community of Mutluyaka.
There will also be a memorial service.
This will be first liturgy carried out at the church since August
1974. It is being organised by the community council of Mutluyaka, the
Profitis Elias church committee and the cultural association of the village.
