Woman tied up and robbed in her home by three men in south Cyprus

Three men in south Cyprus are on the run after they tied up and robbed a 63 year old woman at her apartment in central Paphos on Sunday night.

According to police report, the three men, all wearing hats and gloves broke into the woman's apartment, tied her up with duct tape and started rifling through her apartment for valuables and cash, making off with jewellery that they found in her bedroom.

The woman managed to remove the tape from her mouth and called for help. Neighbours who went to help called police who are investigating. The woman was examined by a private doctor.  She had lacerations on her hands, neck and face, said police report.

Police said that access to the apartment is possible only using a lift that requires a special key. They said that the burglars had broken to lift key and entered the apartment, finding the woman in the kitchen.

She told police that they had threatened her with a knife, tied her feet and hands with tape and gagged her. They then spoke to her in English, asking for her money and jewellery.  They took 2500 euro and jewellery from the bedroom.
