Turkish lira gains 5% value against dollar in week
Turkish lira gained over 5 percent in value against the U.S. dollar, compared to the last week’s close.
As of Friday, the USD/TRY exchange rate
saw 5.60 levels, while it closed the last week at 5.93, according to the
data compiled by Anadolu Agency.
Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira
exchange rate started the week at 5.8420 and saw the lowest point of
around 5.50 on mid-Thursday.
The average U.S. dollar/Turkish lira
exchange rate was 6.04 during the first two weeks of October, 6.38 last
month, and 5.74 in August, according to the Central Bank.
In October, the highest stance of USD/TRY
exchange rate was 6.1654, while it peaked at 6.6944 in September, and
6.8922 in August, the bank data revealed.
The euro/lira rate also posed decline, from 6.85 at the last week’s close to 6.46, down 5.7 percent.
The currencies of several countries,
including BRICS group — Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa,
stood same or dropped against the U.S. dollar last week.
In the 1-week period, euro/USD exchange rate also saw a drop, from 1.15 to 1.14 level.
