Turkish Cypriot man who murdered wife given life sentence

A jealous husband who attacked and murdered his wife by stabbing her five times with a kitchen knife in 2017 has been jailed for life by Gazimağusa Court.

The court in a sitting last Tuesday, October 2 heard that Özgür Okumuş, 43, had killed his university student wife Burcu, 25, on April, 18, 2017 after chasing her for 30 metres when she fled from him on a busy Gazimağusa street.
