TRNC to announce amnesty that will allow university dropout and banned students return to school soon

A draft law for the introduction of amnesty for foreign students in higher education who were not able to continue their education for various reasons has been approved by the TRNC General Assembly. 

The new draft law was approved by the General Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on Monday. 

The Administrative Public and Health Affairs Committee was unanimously taken into consideration by considering the Draft Law (Provisional Rules) (Amendment) concerning the granting of the right to continue their education to those who were dismissed from higher education institutions operating in the TRNC under the Higher Education Act. 

Following the vote, a party member, questioned how many students would benefit from this law, adding that he did not think that many students would benefit from this project.

The new proposed law will cover students who were banned from entering the country and those who are in the country but not schooling.

To benefit from the amnesty, those involved will have to settle their debts with their respective universities. 

The law makers, welcome the amnesty as a positive development.
