Syrian national arrested in Girne for illegal entry

A Syrian national trying to escape to south Cyprus has been arrested in north Cyprus and facing trial.

Hammud Ahmidi, who is seeking help, was arrested on Thursday while he is trying to escape to Southern Cyprus, claiming that he has lost his money to traffickers.

Hammud Ahmidi, a Syrian citizen who was deceived was left in a boat for two days after he tried to enter the TRNC illegally by a boat.

He was arrested on charges of “illegal entry after he went to the Girne Police Department to seek for help.
