Pakistani national arrested for living illegally in the TRNC and theft

Pakistani man who entered the TRNC with a 30-day tourist visa and has been working in the country for several years while living illegally has been arrested for theft.

The man identified as Muhammad Ijaz, a long-time employee in the country was arrested on Wednesday in Karsiyaka Stadium Street was accused for allegedly stealing household appliances and faucets from his house

He was taken to a Girne District Court on charges of theft, illegal residency and offense by a tenant.

Muhammad Ijaz, who entered the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on a 30-day tourist visa had been in the country since 2015.

Although he was known to be a smuggler for three years, Ijaz was employed at many workplaces.

The accused rejected the charges brought against him claiming that he was a gardener and that there was no tenant in the house in question.
