Hangover bar in Dereboyu, Lefkosa, a fighting hub and nothing is being done about it
Over the years, the bar has prided itself as a hot spot for Africans in the island and the Turkish are not left out too. If you happen to go through that way at any time of the evening, you would always find the place filled with guests and buzzing with activities, that will show you how attractive the bar is.
Apart from the usual week days, Fridays and Saturdays are always sold out as the place is always full with people.
Though the place is always filled with Nigerians as it is often called the Nigerian headquarters, students from other nationalities like Zimbabweans, Turkish, Syrians, Cameroonians, and other major nationals in Cyprus also come to the bar to catch fun.
Seen as a place where people from different background come to have fun and while away time, it has gradually turned into a place where people now come to fight.
In the last few months, a day had hardly gone by without a fight between guests especially Nigerians and sometimes, these fights turn out so ugly leaving several people injured and properties damaged.
Despite this increase in violence at the bar, the management who from an eyewitness account is operating on a low budget is not doing anything about it. A situation like everything is allowed here!
In as much as the management want to make money, the safety of human lives should be at the fore front of their plans.
If nothing is done urgently to stop this ugly trend at the rate at which it is going, it might lead to the unwanted scenario, loss of life.
Until the management do something quickly to stop the regular fight at the bar, the worsts might just be a few moment from happening.
