Former Lefkosa Mayor candidate gift newly wedded couple gas to protest price hike

Former Lefkoşa mayoral hopeful Çetin Sadeli turned up at Mehmet Ekin Vaiz and Gülşen Erçin’s wedding in Lefkosa on Sunday with unusual gifts — a jerrycan of petrol and a bottle of gas.

Mr Sadeli, who was defeated in June’s election despite polling 3,200 votes, produced the items in lieu of the traditional pinning on of money and to protest at price hikes on electricity, petrol and gas.
