Foreigner arrested at the airport in south Cyprus after trying to flee with stolen goods

A 34 year-old man, a foreigner was arrested at Larnaca Airport in south Cyprus after he attempted to flee with stolen goods.

The man who was arrested on Saturday night, is a suspect in a robbery case that happened earlier in the day.

According to report, on Saturday afternoon, a 30 year-old man reported that €5,100 were stolen from his Ayia Napa home in south Cyprus.

When police arrived the scene, a witness pointed to the 34 year-old – who was known and hosted by the homeowner – as a suspect.

Shortly after, the 34-year-old was spotted at Larnaca Airport departures where a police-search revealed he was carrying €2,010, £1,845 and  €533-worth of goods.

According to CNA, he admitted to the robbery during questioning and was taken to Famagusta District Court on Sunday.
