Floods cause havoc in Famagusta, leave residents and vehicles stranded

The heavy downpour on Tuesday evening in Famagusta flooded several areas and houses and left many stranded in their vehicles and homes.

The heavy rainfall in Famagusta between 4:30 and 5:00pm on Tuesday caused flooding at many points in the city with many roads closed and cars stranded.

The rain cause floods at the roundabout close to Sema Hotel, paralyzed life at Gürün Street, 15 August Boulevard, Şehit Yusuf Cezar Street and Açık Pazar where İnce Elektronik is located.

A minibus carrying primary school students was stranded in the flood at Canova Petrol Station, located on 15 August Boulevard. 

The children were later rescued by the Gazimağusa Fire Department, report Kibris.

Many people were also stranded in their homes due to the flood.
