Cyprus Talks: Leaders to discuss how to resume negotiations

Leaders of the divided Cyprus island will be submitting proposals on how to proceed with the reunification talks when they meet on Friday, October, 26.

The UN announced on Thursday that President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci will be meeting on Friday, October 26.

It is a meeting without an agenda, Prodromou said, adding that immediately afterwards, sometime in November, the two sides will continue their consultations with UN special envoy Jane Holl Lute.
Mrs. Lute will visit Cyprus in the first days of November so, during this meeting, Mr. Akinci and the president will be able to freely and openly table issues which they think would contribute towards the resumption of negotiations, Prodromou said.
The Greek Cypriot side thinks the negotiations can start as soon as possible, provided the appropriate preparation is done, he added.
