Two Greek Cypriot men from Sotira were arrested and detained by Turkish troops on Saturday evening after crossing the buffer zone.

According to report, the two men, a 47 year old and his 25 year old son had crossed into the buffer zone at around 7 pm on Saturday to visit their family home in Strovilia when they were arrested.

They would appear before a ‘court’ in Famagusta on Monday.

Strovilia is a small Cypriot village located at the border of the de facto Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus with the British Sovereign Base Area of Dhekelia. It is the site of a Green Line crossing. The Cyprus UN buffer zone boundaries are defined as the cease fire lines of 16 August 1974.
