Strong earthquake felt in Cyprus

An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 was felt in Cyprus on Wednesday morning, the geological survey department said.

According report, the earthquake of magnitude 5.5 struck 170 northwest of Polis Chrysochous at a depth of 10 kilometres in the sea off Cyprus at 9.21 am on Wednesday and was felt throughout Cyprus.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage caused by the temblor. Some people were said to have evacuated buildings in some areas.

The quake was in the bay of Antalya and was felt throughout Cyprus, particularly in high buildings.
