Shipload of cattle ‘infected with anthrax’ tracked off North Cyprus coast

A shipload of Brazilian cattle reportedly bound for Spain and allegedly infected with anthrax was being tracked in open waters off the coast of Girne this week as TRNC and other regional authorities kept a close eye online on its movements.

A Transport and Public Works Ministry spokesman said on Friday:

The ship allegedly carrying anthrax-infected animals has never entered the territorial waters of the TRNC.
