NANS, Turkish Zone Press Release: Call for Urgent Intervention

It is with high sense of responsibility and great concern the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Turkish Zone writes this press release.

This is to make a passionate appeal for intervention over an issue of urgent importance. Firstly, it is worth noting that many Nigerian Students who got admission to study at Universities in Northern Cyprus are finding it extremely difficult to get a Turkish transit visa at Turkish Embassy Abuja. To the leadership of NANS, it's a huge problem because NANS believes in the legitimate aspirations of all students for a decent and secure future. More worrisome is the fact that some of the students experiencing the visa crisis have made part payment of their tuition fee and are ideally suppose to be in their respective schools to start registrations and settle down for the task ahead. We deeply share the frustrations of these students because time is far spent. To this effect, we are calling on the Nigerian Ambassador to Turkey and those in positions of authority to urgently intervene by ensuring that those with valid admission letters and other requirements are given speedy visa attention at the Embassy. Also, refund of money paid as part of tuition fee should be paid back immediately to any student on the grounds of failing to secure a visa. We also call for the deployment of other measures to reduce the burden and difficulties surrounding visa processing. While we hope that intervention will come surely and fast, we will continue to work in the best interest of all Nigerian students within the Turkish zone and support all efforts that are students-friendly from the government of Nigeria.

Please accept the best wishes and esteemed regards from NANS Turkish Zone
