Murder in Girne Children's park
According to police report, the murder happened at about 4:40am on Saturday at a children's park located at Kordon Boyu Caddesi in Girne.
The victim Hasan Polat Sepetçi, 26 was stabbed to death with a bread knife by a 34-year-old man identified as Fevzi Şanverdi while he was sleeping at the park.
The victim was stabbed twice in the back and neck and died on the spot.
The suspect left the scene of the attack immediately after the murder, but was soon detected and arrested by the police.
The man told police that he stabbed the victim because he insulted him during an argument.
Investigation showed that the accused who was an illegal resident in the country was drunk when he committed the act.
He was taken to a Girne court on charges of "intentional manslaughter."
