Drug offender arrested after police chase in Girne

A drug suspect who tried to escape after sighting the police in Girne was arrested after he hit two vehicles in the process.

A police chase broke out between the suspect and the police in Girne on Thursday after he was suspected of carrying drugs. 

In the process of escaping from the police, the suspect identified as Onur Oğuzca decided to reverse his car just like in movies and in the process crashed into two other cars.

The suspect and and a passenger in the vehicle then tried to escape from the car, and were chased by the police around the busy streets of Girne.

They were soon arrested and taken into custody.

A police officer was injured in the arm during the chase.

Investigation revealed that one of the suspect who had been living in south Cyprus has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for a murder committed in England.
