9-year-old boy take responsibility for a fire that broke out in apartment in Lefkosa (photos)

A child between the age of 8 and 9 has claimed responsibility for a fire that broke out on the first floor of an apartment in Tepebasi Street, Lefkosa on Saturday.

According to police report, the fire which broke out on Saturday at the first floor of the Recaioglu Apartment in Tepebasi Street was caused by a child between the age of 8 and 9.

One of the children who resided in the region, thought to have anything to do with the incident, came to the scene with his family and took responsibility for the incident.

The child was taken to the police station for questioning and explained how it all happened.

Expressing his guilt, the child said him and his friend were trying to burn a newspaper in the bedroom when the bed caught fire.

The bedroom and other parts of the apartment were damaged by the fire.

The police are looking for another child who is believed to be connected with the incident.
