TRNC releases new student rules, to start deporting illegal residents in mass by September ending.

-Resident permit is now required for all students and workers in the TRNC. 
-Any students who decides to freeze must exit the country.
-Students can work part-time as stated under the law.
-Monitoring of illegal students in the country will begin by September 30.

All students and workers in the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus must get a resident permit or exit the country due to the increasing population of illegal foreigners in the country as illegally student/worker monitoring will start by the end of September. 

This was made know in a statement released by the TRNC Interior Minister, Aysegul Baybars on Monday who explained the new immigration rules released by the Ministry of Interior for foreigners living in the country.

The numbers of workers and students travelling to and from North Cyprus has increased, she said. Stating that the overall population of the TRNC is much higher than those who are citizens, Baybars said that for this reason, the control of people arriving in and leaving North Cyprus is very important.

According to the minister, students, workers and students who are also workers must go get a resident permit as machinery has been put in place to flush out all illegal residents in the country. 

Baybars, said that the population of the island, is much more than where it should be and noted that the control of the entry and exit to the country is very important.


We are working together with the Ministry of National Education, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and the Ministry of Health, the Police Department of Immigration, on system that will come into effect after 30 September 2018, said Baybars.

The Minister noted that despite the fact that the student's permit is legal, students often do not do it adding that it made it easier for some people who are not willing to study in the country come into the country as students and then live illegally in the country. 

The Minister stated that it is very important to fight against these illegal activities in other to reduce crime rates in the country.

According to the minister, with the new integrated system, students in the country will now be able to connect with the new system in which they are required to register their university of study, student status, health status.

The minister explained that this system will be integrated with the systems of the ministries mentioned above and the police immigration department. 

She added that when a foreigner arrives in the TRNC under the status of student, he/she will be registered on arrival and at their university. 

The student will have to undergo a health check by the Ministry of Health and will also have to take their student permit to the Ministry of the Interior, Baybars said.

Students who decides to freeze their studies will be required to exit the country as well.

The minister also stated that students in the country can work part-time and within the framework of the legislation.
