Student arrested for allegedly breaking into office in Famagusta where he stole lots of money from the safe

A student has been arrested by the police for allegedly breaking into a business premises in Famagusta and carted away with huge sums of money kept in a steel safe.

The accused is said to have allegedly opened a business premises owned by Noyanlar Construction Ltd. located at Topçular Boulevard in Gazimağusa between August 14-15, 2018, and took away cash from a steel vault.

According to police report, the suspect entered the business premises without any damage and stole a total of 43,500 TL, 9,600 GBP and 500 Euros from the safe and drawers of the work place.

He was arrested one week later while riding a bicycle after camera images were examined.

He was taken to a court in Famagusta and ordered to remain in detention for three days.

Police say they are still trying to determine if he was responsible for the theft.
