Prison warder arrested for stealing fuel for for Lefkosa prison
A Lefkosa prison guard has been arrested for stealing fuel meant for prison use.
The man identified as Zeki Ozturk, a sergeant at the Lefkosa Central Prison, was arrested on charges of fuel theft and was taken to a Lefkosa court on Tuesday.
The man who is in charge of the prison was found to have stolen about 22 liters of gasoline worth 90 TL he had bought at the Alpet Petrol Station, operating in Göçmenköy, for use at the Lefkosa Central Prison on Monday, July 30.
He was caught red-handed while putting some of the gas he bought from the gas station on the car in the parking lot at the Central Prison.
Police say the suspect gave voluntarily testimony during investigation and admitted that he had done the same crime twice in July 2018.
He was ordered to remain in custody for three days.
