Payment of rents with foreign currency hit student hard in North Cyprus

House rents in cities where universities are located in the TRNC have soared in the face of the crisis rocking the Turkish Lira starting at an average of 1,500TL a month.

According to the research done by the CYPRUS Economy, the average 1+1 house rent for students that usually go for 209.8 pounds per month has increased by approximately 426 TL.

While the prices are increasing on the basis of the pound this year, there is a difference of about 500 TL with the rise of the sterling to the TL.

Prices vary according to cities.
The number of students enrolled in universities in the TRNC is expected to reach 110,000 in 2018-2019 session.

This serious issue, which is more present in populated cities will create an increasing demand of rental houses by students.

The prices of 1 + 1 rental apartments in Famagusta, which houses one of the biggest universities in the country, average around 250 pounds, i.e 2,300 TL per month, while the houses in Girne are of similar prices.

According to the survey, renting 1 + 1 house in Lefkoşa, which houses more than one university, costs around £ 205.9 or TL 1,400.

The situation is the same for university students renting 1 + 1 house in Güzelyurt and Iskele.

According to calculations by the Cyprus Economy, student rentals of 1+1 in these two cities go for around 1,360 TL on the average.

According to the research, student 1 + 1 rental houses goes for an average monthly price of $ 1000 in Lefke being the cheapest rent in cities where there are universities.
