African couple caught by army while trying to cross over from north Cyprus to south Cyprus
A couple from Cameroon who were trying to cross over from north Cyprus to south Cyprus through the Bogus border gate in Lefkosa were caught and arrested by soldiers on duty.
Cedrick Noukeh and his wife Tresor Foumou were arrested and detained by soldiers while they were trying to pass through the Lefkosa Yiğitler Burcu from the TRNC to South Cyprus in violation of the forbidden military zone at about 5:30am on Wednesday.
The couple were taken to a Lefkosa court on charges of violating a forbidden military zone on Wednesday.
Police asked the court to allow it initiate an inquiry against them.
One of the suspect, Cedrick, stated that his spouse had no student status in the country.
The court judge ordered that the suspects be released with a cash bond of TL 10,000 and a guarantor.
The suspects who failed to meet the conditions were sent to prison for a period not to exceed one month.
