Man smuggled drug into north Cyprus from south using drone
A man who uses drone to smuggle drugs from south Cyprus into north Cyprus has been arrested and facing investigation.
Following a tip off, the north Cyprus Directorate of Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention team carried out a review of camera footage in the region.
Police said it has received a notice that drug was being smuggled with the help of a 'drone' from Southern Cyprus into a forest area in Çağlayan region.
In the images investigated, it was discovered that a drone was seen to have dropped drugs into an empty forest area on the 17th of August at 16.00 rads from southern Cyprus while a suspect identified as Orhan Iravul had taken the substance thrown into the area and leaving the scene in a car.
The suspect was arrested 10 days later on Tuesday and taken to court in Lefkosa.
