Man caught with 6-grams of drugs at Ercan airport

A 32-year-old man has been arrested by the TRNC narcotics police at the Ercan airport while attempting to smuggle drugs into the country.

The suspect identified as R.D, 32 was caught with 6 grams of narcotics at the Ercan Airport on Saturday.

The suspect, who was arrested on charges of "importing and saving illegal drugs", was taken to the Lefkosa court on Sunday.

According to police report, the suspect was caught by narcotics detector dog moments after he landed at the airport at about 10:00am on Saturday.

Police said the suspect had voluntarily confessed to the crime.

He was ordered to remain in detention for three days in order for the investigation to be carried out.
