EMU introduces measures to support students in the face of economic crisis

Due to the economy crisis caused by the high increase in foreign exchange rates, the Eastern Mediterranean University, EMU has announced the implementation of series of measures to help reduce the impact of the economic crisis on it's students. 

EMU Rector Dr. Necdet Osam explained that he was experiencing serious uneasiness due to the fluctuations in the currencies the country and stated that EMU which is a state institution has taken a decision to implement a series of measures to help its students in the scope of their own possibilities.

The measures implemented by EMU administration includes; 

-Reduction in Dormitory Fees 
EMU dormitories will have 10% reduction in their fees, and the privately managed dormitories will be asked to reduce their fees or devise other mechanisms to support students. 

-Subsidized Meal Prices 
Meal package in the Table D’hote Restaurant will be subsidized by EMU so that students can have three meals a day ad reduced prices. 

-Local Transportation Support 
Additional busses including between cities will be added by EMU to reduce transportation costs for our students.

According to the explanation, 10% discount accommodation will be offered to all students within the scope of the measures taken in the EMU dormitories.

EMU cafeteria will contribute to the package of three meals with 25% contribution of the university and offer affordable and quality food to the students.

A free bus service will be provided to all students who live in the Lefkosa and Girne regions and who will be studying in the 2018-2019 academic year.

EMU will provide alternative transportation services for its students and will provide twice a day from the Lefkosa region and once a day from the Girne region.

Osam, also requested that students and parents pay their house rents in Turkish Lira or on a fixed exchange rate in order to survive the crisis.
