Ekmek (bread) now sold for 2.50TL and 3.00TL in Güzelyurt due to Dollar crisis

Ekmek has faithfully served so many people in Cyprus by bailing them out of hunger but the crisis rocking the Turkish Lira will now make this pocket friendly commodity even harder to get as it now goes for 2.50 TL.

According to the Baker's Union Chairman, Ömer Çiralı the increase in bread prices is due to "the increase in flour prices caused by the depreciation of the Turkish Lira against the dollar and the hike in gas prices".

Çıralı said, that the price will increase at the beginning of the coming week at places where it has not been increased adding that the loaf of bread was even being sold at 3.00 TL in Güzelyurt".
