Cyprus Talks: End of an era if talks don’t resume - Greek Cypriot negotiator
The period we are witnessing may mark the end of an era
for the Cyprus issue, Greek Cypriot negotiator Andreas Mavroyiannis has
said.
Speaking to the ‘Alithia’ newspaper on Sunday, Mavroyiannis explained that the Guterres Framework solves the problem of guarantees and the Turkish military.
He also argued that if Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci withdrew the territorial map, this would also mean discarding the Guterres framework.
Responding to a question about the non-restarting of the Cyprus talks, Mavroyiannis pointed out that there are no alternative scenarios.
As for UNFICYP, Mavroyiannis noted that any changes in its presence would mean the end of the status quo.
