40-year-old woman arrested for allegedly stealing a gold plated wrist watch belonging to a tourist in Çatalköy

A woman working as a cleaner in a luxurious hotel in Çatalköy has been arrested for allegedly stealing a gold plated wrist watch belonging to a tourist.

According to police report, the suspect reportedly stole a gold plated wrist watch worth 22,000 pounds belonging to a tourist holidaying in a luxurious hotel operating in Çatalköy on August 23.

The suspect identified as 40-year-old Havva Üstün, who works as a cleaning officer at the hotel, was taken to court on Monday.

Police said that they had checked camera images and found out that the alarm went out from the room while the owner was out and also found out that a cleaner was in the hotel room for cleaning duties.

Police said a search was carried out in the suspect's apartment but no evidence was found against her indicating that another person may have entered the room.

She was ordered to remain in detention for two days pending trial.

The suspect, Eva Üstün, who spoke in court said; "I did not do it. I am not a criminal.
