27-year-old Turkish Cypriot drown during fishing competition

A 27-year-old Turkish Cypriot diver lost his life on Sunday after drowning during a diving competition in the Kaplıca sea, near Famagusta.

The man identified as Deniz Yıldız, 27, drowned at about 10:00am on Sunday while participating in a fishing competition organized by the TRNC shooting and hunting federation in Kaplica.

According to police report, Yıldız had drown after taking a dive into the sea.

He was taken to the Famagusta state hospital but all efforts to rescue him, failed.
