Two arrested for breaking and entering in Girne

Two men accused of being responsible for several house breaking and entering in Girne in May and June this year have been arrested and sent to jail.

The accused Ali Akçam and Gökhan Dogan, who were arrested for various house-breaking incident in Girne region in May and June 2018, were sent to prison as unconstitutional detainees.

The suspects were said to have rented vehicles for 4 separate operations in May and June and were caught from data obtained from the GPS (tracking system) devices on the vehicles they rented.

They were taken back to court in Girne on Thursday after their initial detention period was over.They were sent to the Girne Central Prison for 45 days as an unconvicted prisoner due to security purposes.

Police said they were involved in the crimes of "opening houses at night","property damage" and "property raid" in Kyrenia in May and June 2018.

Police explained that a coffee machine was found stolen from a house entered by the men.Police stated that televisions of various brands and sizes were stolen from many houses in Girne region.

The stolen TVs were detected when the suspect tried sell them at his workplace in return for contract.The suspects reportedly fled to south Cyprus illegally.
