Two 11-year-old girls killed in horrific fatal car accident in Cyprus
Two eleven-year-old girls were killed in a road accident early Sunday morning, when a driver lost control of her car along the
Nicosia-Limassol highway in south Cyprus.
According to police report, a 40-year-old woman from Russia was driving her car on the highway around 4:30am, with four children as her passengers, a 14-year-old in the front seat as well as two 11-year-old girls and a 15-year-old boy sitting in the back when the accident happened.
At one point, between the Moni and Parekklisia exits, the woman lost control of her vehicle and struck the guard rail, sending the car off to a spin for about 50 metres and then rolling over as it came to a stop.
The two 11-year-old girls were fatally injured, with one of them being crushed to death by the overturned vehicle.
All five passengers were rushed to the Emergency Room at Limassol
General Hospital, where the two little girls were pronounced dead on
arrival.
The children were reportedly from different families, being driven to their homes after a vacation overseas, according to media reports.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
