Turkish tourist caught with drugs in Lefkosa during police raid

A Turkish tourist in North Cyprus has been arrested for smuggling drugs into the country.

The suspect, İsmail Karagülle, a tourist in the country was arrested in a joint operation by the Narcotics police and GGS teams for smuggling drug pills into the TRNC.

According to police report, the suspect, whose movement was suspicious was arrested on Saturday at Bedreddin Demirel Street, in Lefkosa.

13 extacy pills and many pill fragments was found in the house of the suspect.

The suspect who admitted to crime during interrogation and told the police that and he had brought the pills on July 12, the day he entered the Girne Tourism Port.

He was taken to a Lefkosa court on drug charges.

I escape from treatment, the suspect, who spoke in the court said.
I have used these pills in Turkey. I was being treated in a hospital in Adana and I escaped there. I had come to Cyprus before, but I could not find these pills here, so I brought it with me to drink myself.

He was ordered to remain in dentention for three days pending investigation.
