Student sold friend's passport he used as collateral to borrow money from him
His friend borrowed money from him using his passport as a collateral, and when his friend couldn't raise the money on time, he sold the passport to another person.
One Mohamed Mahmoud Mokhtar, a student in north Cyprus has been arrested in Lefkosa for selling his friend's passport he used as a collateral for money he borrowed from him.
The accused, Mahmoud Mokhtar took his friend's passport as collateral for the $500 he borrowed from him, but sold the passport to an illegal resident in north Cyprus for $1000.
The suspect was arrested on Saturday and taken to a court in Lefkosa.
Upon investigation, police said another passport was found in his possession and are currently trying to determine the owner of the passport.
He was ordered to remain in detention for three days.
