Student caught with bonzai in Girne

A Turkish student has been arrested in a drug raid carried out by the north Cyprus narcotics team in Girne.

According to police report, the suspect identified as Mehmet Enginel from Turkey, who is on the island for study was arrested by narcotics police during a raid on Saturday in Girne and taken to a Girne court.

Police said the suspect was caught with several grams of drugs believed to be bonzai.

Four other people were also arrested and interrogated.

He was ordered by the court to remain in detention for three days.

Police say they are looking for the vendor.
