Paper Round: Real Madrid’s £100m swoop for Chelsea duo, Eden Hazard not included
Real Madrid want two Chelsea players, but one of them isn’t Eden Hazard? That and more in a look at Monday’s Paper Round.
Real target Blues duo
Real target Blues duo
Real Madrid have made a £100m bid for Chelsea duo Thibaut Courtois and Willian, according to The Sun.
The European champions’ interest in Courtois has been longstanding, but
now it has emerged that Willian is a target, with the Brazilian also
wanted by Barcelona – who have seen three offers snubbed by the Blues.
Chelsea most recently rejected Barca’s £55m bid for Willian, and now
Real are reportedly targeting a double swoop.
Jose, Woodward ‘at loggerheads’
Jose Mourinho’s relationship with Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has reached boiling point regarding transfers, the Daily Mail
reports. Woodward is reluctant to release more funds for the United
boss, who is eager to add to his squad, having been vocal about their
need to strengthen if they are to even consider challenging for the
Premier League.
Pulisic to Chelsea?
Chelsea have been linked with a £65m move for Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic. The Mirror’s report claims the Blues are desperate to sign the American, with Liverpool
and Real Madrid among those said to be interested in the 19-year-old.
Dortmund are said to be willing to listen to offers of £65m,
particularly as his contract runs out in 2020 – meaning any deal next
year may not reach the same value.
Conte turns on the AC
Antonio Conte is set for a return to management, according to the Mirror, with the former Chelsea boss in line to replace Gennaro Gattuso at AC Milan.
Conte is set to be offered a £5.5m-a-year deal to take charge at Milan,
who only hired Gattuso back in April. However, one sticky point could
be the legal battle Conte finds himself with Chelsea over the pay off he
should get after being dismissed.
