Must read if you are in Cyprus - Times have changed (a piece of advice)

This is summer, so many things (some terrible and some funny) are happening in Cyprus everyday which many of you are not aware of. For the girls, be careful where you go, who you visit and the kind of people you associate with. If you don't have a resident permit, stay out of trouble and stay within the law of the country and if you like good and flashy things, work hard for it....

First, lets talk to those small girls with big god.
Liking flashy things, living an expensive life style or looking for who will support you financially is not a bad thing but it will be better if you take out time to know the people you seek these things from. It may not be my business but I will not fail to tell you that many have gotten themselves into trouble by falling into the wrongs hands all in the name of needing someone to settle their bills and put small change in your pocket. Even the material things you run after today, will one day lose value and worth, so chill. Almost on daily basis, we get several reports on abominable things happening in the island and how those involved regret ever being a victim. If you want to have that thing you so desire, work for it because nothing comes for free.... There' a price for everything. All that glitters is not GOLD. It is good to learn from other people's mistake than be a victim.

For those without a resident permit, you must be very careful now than ever before. Things are changing so fast in north Cyprus that one can be deported at any point in time for a silly mistake. It will interest you to know that police are on the look out for people who are constituting nuisance in the country. You may think oh they don't know me or where I live..... don't kid yourself... the police knows your every move, where you stay, where you go, and your transactions. Let me shock some of you, the police as we speak have a list of wanted persons including their photos and instructions have been given to hotel operators, restaurants and place of social activities to report anyone misbehaving and constituting nuisance. In everything you do, keep it moderate and remain within the laws of the country.

For those who are not registered with any university in the island, this is the best time to do so. Any moment from now the police will be carrying out raid from time to time across the island and anyone found living illegally in the island will be deported but before then that person will either be jailed for sometime or made to pay a fine. If you have problem on any issue like, how to registered with any university or get a transfer to another university, you can contact us through our email (olomoinfo@gmail.com) or Facebook page.

Those waiting for amnesty, nothing has been heard or done about that for now. Information will be passed out to the public as soon as anything comes up, but in the mean time, do everything in your power to register with a university, get a student letter, and settle your debt with your university.

For those working in the island, be diligent in your doing. Be careful about the information you give to fellow workers. As a foreign worker in the TRNC, you are entitled to receive as high as the minimum wage for locals while working as a part-time staff. If you don't have a work permit, make sure to have a resident permit and be registered with a university in the island.

For those that like to party and go clubbing, having fun is good, but don't get into the wrong hands, group or place while trying to have fun. If you must drive after a party or clubbing please don't drink. Other people's life and yours are in your hand as the driver, I advise you keep it slow. Also, if you notice there is a fight or quarrel, the best thing to do is leave the environment and make sure not to take part in it.

If you are to take a cab at night, make sure to take photo of the car number, ask the driver for his name and if possible his number. Make sure to agree with the cab driver before staring your journey and if you need more proof to any unforeseen circumstances, put your mobile phone on record.

For guys that run after every girl they see, if she don't give you the attention you need, try again some other time, she might not be in the mood at that point in time, try to be friendly and polite, you don't have to force it. Stop embarrassing yourself. For the ladies avoid walking alone at night. If you must walk alone, put your phone on record mode, make sure to have credits and report any thing you find suspicious.

Finally it's summer, and it's as hot as ever, stay away from the scorching sun, drink enough water and get more rest.
