Meet the slimming world's man of the year

A 34-stone man who struggled to make it to the end of his road has lost 20-STONE after walking 6,000 miles and has been crowned Slimming World' s Man of the Year 2018.

At Dave Lancaster's heaviest, he had type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, joint pain, high cholesterol, the beginnings of gout and sleep apnoea, a condition which can see a person stop breathing in their sleep.

He said his immobility turned him into a recluse and although he was getting bigger, he felt 'his world was shrinking'.

But the call centre manager joined Slimming World in April 2016 and began walking every day - clocking up the total of a distance greater than from San Francisco to New York and back again.

He has lost 20stone 8lbs and no longer needs any medication for his health conditions.

And he doesn't have to worry about fitting in seats on public transport, breaking benches or garden furniture anymore.

The 45-year-old has gone from 34stone 8lbs and wearing a size 8XL with a 66in waist to 14stone and wearing size L clothes with a 36in waist. Incredible!
