Man steals money from inside a car parked at the Famagusta police Department.

A man has been arrested for stealing money from inside a vehicle parked in the garden inside the Famagusta police Department.

According to report, the suspect identified as Irfan Tan who escaped by beating the police officer who reportedly caught him red handed was arrested in Girne on Friday.

The cash totaling about 12,500TL was secretly hidden in the car confiscated by the police at the Gazimağusa Police Directorate.

Another suspect, a woman was detained in connection with the transfer of the money which was withdrawn from the bank by the suspect in February on two different dates.

The suspects were brought before a Girne Accident Court on Friday on charges of money laundering and a 3-day detention order was taken against them.

The court Judge ordered the suspects to remain in custody for three days in order for investigation to be carried out.
