"I'm very sorry to have done such a thing, this is the first time and I will never do such a thing again - student arrested for drug in Dikmen

Two students were last week arrested and jailed by the TRNC narcotics, smuggling and prevention police after they were found with drugs.

According to report the two accused were arrested in their apartment block located on Lavinium's site in Dikmen on Friday last week following a complaint by citizens living in the area.

Police said they found items believed to be four and a half grams of hijacking type drug after a search carried out in their apartment.

Police said they had a substance believed to be a banned drug wrapped in a cigarette weighing about 2 grams in the bed room of one of the suspects and another half gram in the shorts worn by the suspect.

Police said the materials could be taken to the laboratory for analysis.

The two accused identified as J.C and B.L were taken to a Girne court on Saturday on charges of "taking and saving illegal drugs."

One of the accused apologized and told the court that he was sorry and regretful of what he did.

I am very sorry to have done such a thing. I've never done anything like this in Cyprus before. This is a first and I will never do such a thing again.

They were ordered by the court to remain in detention for three days pending investigation.
