Cyprus Weather Report: Public cautioned as temperatures hit 40s

Τhe Met office has urged the public to be careful, as extremely hot weather is forecast for the next few days in the Nicosia/Lefkosa area.

People should avoid going outside, especially from noon until 4pm or 5pm,” the south Cyprus Met office said on Tuesday.

It will be around 41C to 42C on Thursday and Friday, though it won’t be extremely hot in coastal areas, where temperatures will reach 33C to 36C.

Temperatures are already forecast to be hotter than normal for this time of the year on Tuesday, topping 38C in Nicosia. 

In the highest mountains, they are expected to be a maximum of 29C, 31C along the west coast and 34C in other coastal regions.

During the night it will cool down to 22C in most areas.
