Cyprus Talks: Anastasiades expresses readiness to resume talks during meeting with UN envoy
Greek Cypriot president, Nicos Anastasiades have expressed his readiness to resume the Cyprus talks during a meeting with UN envoy, Jane Hall Lutein in Nicosia on Monday.
Anastasiades briefed Jane Hall Lute on the Greek Cypriot side’s positions, expressing his readiness for the resumption of the Cyprus negotiations.
According to government sources, during the meeting, Anastasiades gave an overview of the negotiation process, and clearly stated the positions of the Greek Cypriot side.
Anastasiades also expressed the readiness of the Greek Cypriot side to resume the negotiations based on the UN secretary-general’s framework, following the proper groundwork to boost the chance of reaching an agreement.
Lute reportedly told the president she was in Nicosia to listen to the two sides and report back to Guterres on the thoughts and positions of the two sides.
Lute also met with Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci in Lefkosa, North Cyprus after her meeting with Anastasiades.
