Car naming a popular trend in the UK
Women are more likely to name their car then men with
Doris, Dave, Henry, Betsy and The Beast the most popular choices, UK
research shows.
The UK's Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA)
study shows women are twice as likely as men to name their car, with the
most common age range of car namers between 55 and 64.
Personalised registration plates are also often bought to match the car's name, the DVLA said.
Notably "DOR 1S" sold for GBP6900 in September 1990 and "HEN 2Y" was purchased for GBP6,300 in June 2005.
"BR17 NEY", which may be a popular one for Britney Spears fans, will be available with a reserve price of GBP700 at the next DVLA auction on July 18.
