Two Russians, a Congolese and two Nigerians arrested for drugs in Girne

The Girne narcotics police have arrested five people, including two Russian citizens for drug use as well as three African students who deals in drug sales, following a raid on Wednesday.

According to police report, the drug traffickers of African descent who were university students in the country as well as two Russian citizens were caught by the Girne Narcotics Branch crews in their hostel rooms.

In the operation, 11 grams of drugs were recovered from them.

The two Russian citizens identified as ID, 36 and DS, 27, who are tourists in the country, were found with several quantities of drugs hidden in 3 different packages inside a wallet and two pet bottles containing drugs.

A 27-year-old Congolese student was also arrested in another operation carried out on the same day in Girne. They confessed and implicated two other suspects who are Nigerians aged 22 and 24 who were also arrested same day by the narcotics police.

Several quantities of drugs were found on them following a search in their hostels. The suspects gave a voluntarily statement that the drugs were in their possession and that they purchased them from someone and confessed to selling it to people.

They were taken into police custody on Wednesday after appearing before a Girne court where they were ordered to remain in detention for two days as investigation continues.
