TRNC government introduces new license plate numbers, give ultimatum
In the announcement by the Ministry, the new plate number introduction will cover for private cars, rental cars, official service vehicles, police vehicles, diplomatic vehicles, classical vehicles, vehicles used by visitors and temporary visitors.
According to the announcement, the last date for the for the change of old number plates for rental car is July, 2, 2018. The Ministry also noted that the "Z" letter on the rental vehicles plate numbers must be adjacent to the other letters, otherwise the plaques will be erroneous.
Other vehicle owners have until January, 31, 2019 to changd to the new authorized license plates.
Sanctions will be imposed on vehicle owners who do not change their license plates after 31 January 2019.
