Too much building in North Cyprus and three times more than is necessary,

The number of buildings under construction in North Cyprus is three times more than is necessary, compared with geographical and population requirements, Chairman of the Turkish Cypriot subcontractor’s union, Osman Amca has said.

According to Amca, between the years of 2013-2016, 2,688 new constructions were built in North Nicosia, 1,743 in Famagusta, 2,775 in Kyrenia, 657 in Yeni Iskele, 374 in Guzelyurt and 275 the Lefke region.

Saying that he was very worried about the uncontrolled and rapidly increasing number of constructions in the TRNC, Amca argued that they should take lessons from the mistakes made the past and if they do not want to see again a glut of partially constructed buildings, to take urgent measures.
