South Cyprus drug dealer sentenced to five years in prison in north Cyprus

A Greek Cypriot man was on Friday sentenced to five years in prison in north Cyprus after being found guilty of drug ‘import’ and trafficking.

The man identified as Constantinos Christoforou was arrested in December 2017 along with two other people during a sting operation while in his car in the parking lot of a hospital in Lefkosa.

According to court hearing, more than half a kilo of cannabis believed to have been brought from the south Cyprus into north Cyprus was found in Christoforou’s car, reports Turkish Cypriot daily, Havadis.

According to police report, the arrest of Christoforou came after six people they had arrested in Girne earlier that day for drug possession gave information about him.
