Paper Round: Paris Saint-Germain want Paul Pogba in player-plus-cash deal
PSG are reportedly willing to part with
one of their midfielders to land Manchester United’s Paul Pogba. That
and more in Tuesday’s Paper Round.
Pog-back to Paris?
Paris Saint-Germain have offered Marco Verratti plus cash for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, The Sun reports.
The French champions are said to be close to offering Verratti a new
deal, but would be willing to part with the Italian midfielder if there
is a possibility of bringing Pogba to Paris. There is no sign United are
willing to part ways with their club-record signing, though he endured
fleeting moments of frustration last season under manager Jose Mourinho.
Loan only for Loftus-Cheek
Ruben Loftus-Cheek will only be allowed to leave Chelsea on loan this summer, a number of British papers have reported. The Guardian, Telegraph and Daily Mail
are among those to claim the midfielder may be sent out on a second
successive season-long loan – having spent the last campaign at Crystal Palace
– but the Blues will not listen to offers as they feel the 22-year-old
England international has a big role to play in the future.
Sokratis close to Arsenal move
Sokratis Papastathopoulos is likely to join Arsenal, according to Borussia Dortmund chief Michael Zorc. The Daily Mirror claims the Greek defender will join in a £16m deal this month. Speaking to Revier Sport,
Zorc said: "He is likely to go there but things are not finalised yet. I
will not give you anything more for the rumour mill. There have
apparently been 27 new Dortmund players since the end of May."
Rooney to move this week
Wayne Rooney
is on the verge of joining DC United, and is set to complete the move
this week as he plans to head stateside to finalise a deal – the Daily Mail reports. The 32-year-old has come to accept he does not feature in the plans of new Everton manager Marco Silva, and is now preparing himself for a move to Washington.
